Tile Talk: Babb & Mack Design Co
Colour has long been making its way back into bathroom design, but few projects embrace it with as much confidence as this playful family bathroom by Babb & Mack Design Co. Reimagined around a new wet room layout, the scheme combines Otto's Colourful Mosaic Zellige underfoot with Fes White Zellige and Ecru Zellige across the walls, creating a space that feels both joyful and timeless. We spoke to the studio about the project, the thinking behind the design and the bathroom trends they believe are shaping 2026.

The Project
What was the starting point for this bathroom?
"We started with reconfiguring the layout and incorporating a wet room space."
Why did you choose this tile combination?
"The homeowner and I both pulled the same inspiration image featuring the Colourful Mosaic Zellige. We both loved how it is playful enough for a kids' bathroom, while still feeling appropriate as the children grow. With that in mind, we toned down other aspects of the space, using the white and ecru zellige on the walls alongside a light, neutral paint colour."
The floor is incredibly playful. What made you confident it wouldn't date?
"I think zellige itself is a material that has stood the test of time, and the many colours incorporated within the tile don't lend themselves to one particular colour palette that feels trendy. Showing restraint in other areas of the design helps the space feel more classic."
Can a family bathroom still feel design led? If so, how?
"Of course. Quality, timeless materials, a great layout and smart storage to hide all the necessary items that aren't so design focused will help create a design led space."
What's your favourite detail in the room?
"The little accents of deep red that we pulled from the amazing floor tile, from the gorgeous fringe trim on the window shade to the red robe hooks."
If you could steal one element from this project and use it in every bathroom, what would it be?
"The use of colour."
